This kind of coupling has two main structural forms: 1. Relying on the hinged hole to use bolts to achieve the alignment of the two shafts and relying on the bolt rod to withstand extrusion and shearing to transmit torque; 2. relying on a half-coupling on the The shoulder is aligned with the groove on the other coupling half. The bolts connecting the two half-couplings can use ordinary bolts of grade B and B, and the torque is transmitted by the friction torque of the joint surfaces of the two half-couplings.

The material of the flange coupling can be gray cast iron or carbon steel, and cast steel or forged steel shall be used for heavy load or when the peripheral speed is greater than 30 m/s. The flange coupling has high requirements on the neutrality of the two shafts.
